The Banyan Elder
This is the banyan tree standing in front of an ancestral hall in Changqi Ancient Village, Sanshui, Foshan. It is the closest image I have to what I imagine the Banyan Elder to be: rooted in the most important place in the village, its branches reaching wide and offering gentle shade to the people who gather beneath it. I sat down for a while under its branches. A truly magnificent tree — the Banyan Elder of Changqi Village.
The first picture is from an old village in Chaozhou, but didn't write down the name. Amazing tree growing on top of a small building by the big pond.
